//History

WYP was established in September 2008 by 11 young, professional Wellingtonians who were keen to bring the success of the cross-industry ‘Young Professionals’ concept to Wellington.

This concept evolved from a group of like-minded individuals in Christchurch, from a variety of occupations, who saw benefit in interacting with each other on a regular basis, rather than their peers from work or university. The group saw an opportunity for a network to be created that could provide such benefits to the wider business community, and which wasn’t aligned with a specific industry. Receiving a positive response to their ideas, they formed a committee and went on to expand the concept to establish the Canterbury Young Professionals in September 2006.
